  Cheap Wedding Dresses

Choosing a bridal gown can be one of the more difficult parts of planning your wedding. The venue you choose for your wedding day will help determine the formality of your bridal gown and attire. For example, you will not want to wear a ball gown with a cathedral length train to your morning wedding ceremony & late morning brunch.

Many couples are now electing to have more simple weddings. Whether it is because they simply cannot afford a more extravagant affair, or wants to spend their hard-earned money on a down payment for a new home or cars, the reasons vary and all are very valid!

One way to cut costs is by being more selective about the wedding dress you purchase. A cheap wedding dress does not have to mean that the gown is poorly made or of poor quality. There are many options out there for brides to find gowns to fit within their budget, whatever that may be. For brides with a very limited budget for their gown, say $200.00 or less, there are many options!

Many brides are choosing to wear a simple sundress (of any length) from a local department store. Another alternative that brides are exploring is ordering a bridesmaid dress in white or ivory (or any other color, pink, blue, green, etc.) and wearing that as their bridal gown. Not only is the formality more appropriate for a beach wedding, but this is also a great way to save money. Beware though, some designers charge additional for bridesmaid dresses ordered in White or Ivory.

One more option to consider is to not purchase a traditional white or ivory bridal gown. Find another gown in any color that you can where again to church, parties, holidays, etc. Whether it is a simple sundress that you can where to other summer parties, or a more elegant, yet affordable, evening gown the possibilities are endless!

Also brides on a budget may want to consider wearing a previously worn gown. Many brides wear their gown for their wedding and then either box it up to store, or have it cleaned & preserved to store in a closet for years. You may find your mother or aunt’s gown to your tastes. Or you may want to add personal touches to their gown to make it just right.

In addition you may consider purchasing a cheap wedding dress from a consignment shop. This is a great opportunity to find a gown and then add or make changes to the gown to create exactly what you want. There are many online resources as well to help you purchase previously worn gowns.

Lastly, consider looking at your local bridal salons “sale” rack. Often these are discontinued gowns that are no longer available for special order. If there are stains or damage to the gown, negotiate the price to compensate for fixing the gown, or get in writing from the salon that the gown will be cleaned and repaired by them at no additional cost. This is a great way to get a gorgeous yet cheap wedding dress for your special day.
