I just wanted to share with the world the wonderful experience I had using Elegant Gowns for my wedding dress. I, like a lot of people, wanted the perfect wedding without taking out a loan. As I started looking for dresses, I realized the loan may be a real possibility.
The majority of the dresses I found were at least $1000, and many were $2000+. This was certainly out of my budget. When I found the perfect dress for $1200, I was ready to cry, knowing it was out of my price range. Then, my sister reminded me of how she purchased her dress, the internet. She was married about 4 years ago, and found her dress at Elegant Gowns for $200...and it was beautiful. So, I gave it a shot. I e-mailed Brooke, and within 24 hours, she wrote me with a quote of $500 for my perfect dress! However, there was a problem...it would take 18 weeks to ship, and my wedding was in 16 weeks. Brooke put a rush on my dress, and I actually received it in about 10 weeks! The best part was that the dress was flawless! Informal and Casual Wedding Dresses
Choosing a bridal gown can be one of the more difficult parts of planning your wedding. The venue you choose for your wedding day will help determine the formality of your bridal gown and attire. For example, you will not want to wear a ball gown with a cathedral length train to your morning wedding ceremony & late morning brunch.
Before beginning your search for your informal or casual wedding dress, you will want to determine how informal or casual you want the gown to be. What length are your looking for? Do you still want the traditional white or ivory, or do you want to branch out into a less traditional color palate for your dress? The neckline of the gown is also important. Long sleeves and strapless are sometimes considered to be more formal than halter or spaghetti strap necklines.
More simple, informal wedding dresses are becoming more and more popular among modern brides. These brides have outgrown the “fantasy” ball gown and are selecting more sleek styles for their wedding dress. Others want to have their cake and eat it too! These brides are wearing a more extravagant bridal gown for the wedding ceremony, and then changing into a more informal gown for the dinner and reception.
Casual wedding dresses are also making appearances more often. Many brides are choosing to wear a simple sun-dress (of any length) from a local department store. Another alternative that brides are exploring is ordering a bridesmaid dress in white or ivory (or any other color, pink, blue, green, etc.) and wearing that as their bridal gown. Not only is the formality more appropriate for a beach wedding, but this is also a great way to save money. Beware though, some designers charge additional for bridesmaid dresses ordered in White or Ivory.
Some brides are also choosing to not purchase a traditional white or ivory bridal gown. They find a gown in any color that they can where again to church, parties, holidays, etc. Whether it is a simple sun-dress that you can where to other summer parties, or a more elegant, yet affordable, evening gown the possibilities are endless!
Simply put, casual wedding dresses have a touch of classiness that separates them from every-day dresses. There are some wedding dress designers who specialize in making more informal or casual dresses for brides to wear as their wedding gown. And many times this informal dresses cost much less than a traditional ball gown.
And when selecting your information wedding dress, do not forget about your accessories. A veil and tiara would probably be a bit much for a casual gown, but fresh flowers or decorative pins could add the perfect accent to complete your look.
At the end of the day, remember that it is not what the bride wears on her wedding day that makes her a bride.
