When searching for your perfect vintage wedding dress, be sure to educate yourself with the right questions to ask your dealer. These gowns tend to be very expensive and delicate due to their age, so caution must be exerted with every step of the way. Know what types of fabrics you prefer to wear and what aging may do to these fabrics. When negotiating the price of your vintage wedding dress be sure to take into consideration if you will need to have a seamstress repair it; if it needs repairs, how extensive? Repairs on older dresses can be much more costly that alterations on a traditional wedding dress. Also ask if there is a record of how many owners the gown has had.
Do not allow yourself to be pressured into purchasing a gown. If you love the gown, but something in the back of your mind is giving you pause, wait at least a day until you make your decision. If, on the rare chance, the gown is sold to another bride in this time just take it as “it was not meant to be” and you will find something else!
